This page has been developed to provide educational and logistical support to ensure transgender and gender non-binary (TGNB) individuals have access to lifesaving gender affirming healthcare. Here you will find a number of resources and guides, including how to make a referral to UWM specialist providing gender affirming care, educational resources and peer-reviewed articles, resources for TGNB patients and their families, and guides on providing quality care to TGNB patients. If there are resources you’d like to suggest we add to this page, please contact us.

Queer Medical Student Association (QMed)
The mission of the Queer Medical Student Association (QMed) is to provide education & information to the medical community and all who are interested in healthcare issues concerning the Queer (gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, intersex, etc.) population. We will strive to ensure a welcoming, respectful and safe academic environment for Queer students at the UW Medical School. We are also committed to supporting a diverse community on campus and will provide resources and support for Queer students. We are a group of students that are both queer and straight allies that believe in the importance of equality in healthcare for all people. Email: qmedicine@uw.edu

If you are interested in participating as a mentor/mentee, please email Dr. Mariebeth Velasquez.
