The University of Washington Upward Bound Program is 100% federally funded by the US Department of Education at an annual budget of $410,987 and helps prepare Nathan Hale, Cleveland and Franklin students for college.

It serves students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds and/or from families in which students would be the first generation to complete a four-year college degree.

Upward Bound provides direction to improve a student's chances of being accepted and graduating from college.

The program offers classes during the school year and during the summer, where students receive regular high school credits for all classes taken
