The University of Washington-Beyond High School (UW-BHS)
Research Project is a longitudinal research study that focuses on the
educational attainment and early life course outcomes of young adults
in the Pacific Northwest. The study was originally designed to focus
specifically on the transition from high school to college, but it
contains a great deal of information on other components of the
students’ lives. For an overview of the UW-BHS project, click here.
At the heart of the UW-BHS data collection is the Senior
Survey, which
is a survey of high school seniors in the spring of their final year of
high school. The UW-BHS has fielded five waves of Senior Surveys - in
2000, 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2005 - for a total of nearly 10,000
respondents. In addition to the Senior Survey, a brief follow-up survey
was conducted one year later (2001, 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2006). A
survey of the high school seniors’ parents was also conducted for the
2000, 2002, and 2003 cohorts.
