This community-based learning position contributes to the mission of the House of Wisdom by extending our impact to the immigrant, refugee, and international student community in America.

Our mission is to provide accessible and affordable one on one Math and English tutoring specifically tailored for immigrants, refugees, and international students. We provide tutoring for students ranging from kindergarten to adults.

English Writing Tutors:

In this position, you will assist our students in our Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday classes, guiding them through our English curriculum and lesson plan. Tutors are expected to teach and explain lesson plans to our students improving their reading, speaking, writing, and comprehension skills.

For our students who are seeking English assignment help, you’ll help in planning, brainstorming, reviewing writing, and developing critical thinking skills necessary to do well on these assignments.

As a tutor, you’ll improve your communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, reinforcing your own English proficiency in a welcoming and diverse environment. Our class is a fun, inclusive space where everyone feels comfortable sharing ideas while learning effectively.

English Writing Tutor Times:

Flexible schedule, tutors are expected to attend a minimum of one tutoring session per week.

Tuesday 3:00 – 4:30 at Lake City Location

Mondays & Fridays 4:30 – 6:00PM at Edmonds College Location.

Wednesday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Edmonds College Location.

Thursdays 4 – 6 at Connect Casino Road in Everett.

Math Tutors: 

In this position, you will assist our students in our Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday classes explaining the “what” and “how” of their math assignments. Tutors are expected to teach and explain lesson plans that are easily understandable, enabling our students to grasp concepts and be able to do it on their own.

For our students attending class without assigned homework, tutor’s responsibilities are to evaluate their skill level and create a tailored lesson plan to learn new skills or deepen their understanding of a specific math concept.

As a tutor, you’ll improve your communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, reinforcing your own Math proficiency in a welcoming and diverse environment. Our class is a fun, inclusive space where everyone feels comfortable sharing ideas while learning effectively.

Math Tutor Times:

Mondays & Fridays 4:30 – 6:00PM at Edmonds College Location.

Tuesday from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Lake City.

Thursdays 4 – 6 at Connect Casino Road in Everett.

For this position a tutor’s responsibilities include:

· Provide one-on-one or group tutoring sessions to students in Math and/or English for 2-6 hours/week

· Assist our students with understanding the “what” and the “how” of the concepts from their school assignments

· Tailor lesson plans and study materials according to individual student’s needs and learning styles

· Teach and guide our English learning students using our provided curriculum and lesson plans (English tutors)

· Monitor student’s progress and provide feedback to parents and teachers as needed
