Research & Community Engagement Internships - Collaborative for Socio-Ecological Engagement

The Collaborative for Socio-Ecological Engagement (CoSEE) is currently accepting intern applications for Summer and Fall 2025! CoSEE is a UW Bothell-led research and learning unit that operates at the Environmental Education and Research Center (EERC) in Saint Edward State Park. These internships connect environmental education, conservation, and community outreach. Summer interns are eligible to apply for the $1500 Summer Research Award (due May 15).
Summer 2025: Credit-Based Internship (June 23-Sept. 15, 1-3 credits based on hours worked):
- Place-Based Environmental Education Kit Development Internship: This project develops portable, interactive environmental education kits focused on regional socio-ecological issues and a justice-centered approach. Interns will help create engaging, hands-on materials that make environmental education more inclusive, culturally relevant, and adaptable.
- Social Media & Communication Internship. Use digital media to support CoSEE’s socio-ecological and justice-focused work! Interns manage social media, create content, design materials, and assist with newsletters to boost outreach and connect diverse audiences to environmental education.
- Community Engagement & Education in Native Plant Conservation Internship. This project supports community engagement and environmental education efforts at Saint Edward State Park in collaboration with Friends of Saint Edward State Park. This internship will support managing and re-designing the Native Plant Learning Garden. Students will help design, plant, and manage the garden while developing informational and educational materials.
- Invasive Species Management & Community Restoration Internship. This project centers on managing invasive species and involving the community in conservation. Interns will lead cleanups, assist with removal efforts, support park restoration, and help create a long-term management plan. They’ll also build partnerships to boost local engagement and stewardship.
- Environmental Education Program Assistant. Support the development and implementation of expansive environmental education materials for a variety of ages and groups! Interns will support current programming such as the 101 series, Nature Walks, and events with the Alyssa Burnett Center.
