Graduation: Submit Candidacy and Degree Recommendations

These are reminders for you that will assist GEMS in providing a quick and successful graduation for your students. Students must complete all degree requirements on or before June 10, 2016.

Before you recommend graduation in MyGradProgram, please ensure the following steps have been completed:

  1. Verify the master’s request indicates the correct degree code.
  2. Assign department contingencies, if there are any.
  3. Print the warrant for signatures. The warrant must be printed before approving a Master’s Degree Request (see MGP help files). The signed warrant must be kept in the student’s file.
  4. Review the student’s degree audit.
  5. Verify that any necessary petitions have been submitted (e.g., “count GNM credits” or “extend time limit”)
  6. Verify that all required courses have grades appearing on the transcript. Verify that grades have posted to the transcript for the final quarter of enrollment (grades are due by 5 p.m., June 15th for Spring 2016.)
  7. Verify that all department contingencies have been cleared.

If you are not able to recommend a student for graduation by Friday, June 17 (e.g., due to unposted grades), please contact GEMS. As always, thank you for your efforts in assisting us to provide graduate students with a positive UW experience.
