Posthumous Degree Policy

The UW Graduate School follows the University of Washington guidelines for awarding posthumous degrees. In addition to those guidelines, the Graduate School has posted a new Posthumous Degrees policy for graduate students on its website. The policy outlines the requirements and the process for awarding a posthumous degree to a deceased graduate student.

We hope that this new policy will help guide a deceased student’s family and department during a time of loss as they seek ways to honor an advanced student’s life and work.
