Executive Vice President Site Visit at CSS

On August 2, 2018, Jeff Scott, Executive Vice President of the University of Washington, visited the Center for Shared Services (CSS) office to conduct a walk-through site visit. Many Finance and Facilities executive leaders from across the University also attended to learn about the center’s scope and processes, as well as how the center’s model is helping save time and money. The shared services model is gaining popularity and the newly created CSS is off to a promising start.

The site visit was led by HSA Executive Director, Dave Anderson, and HSA Director of Administration and Shared Services, Kelly Johnson. During the visit CSS Program Director, Ylanda Thomas, gave a thorough background of the center’s pre-inception build out, the present scope of the daily work, the challenges that a shared services center faces, and how to adapt and navigate in an ever-changing University landscape.

The Finance/Administration and IT managers, Chad Cook and Tiffany Quatmann, both gave presentations on their departments. They focused on the scope of their work and the ticketing system they use to respond to customer requests. Additionally, they provided an overview of some of the early challenges and how they’ve been handled, as well as the results of the first Customer Satisfaction Survey that the CSS sent out to frequent customers.

The group came away both impressed and intrigued by the shared services model. It was an excellent visit and positive reinforcement for the HSA Center for Shared Services. Thank you to everyone who made the Executive Vice President’s Center for Shared Services visit a success
