Design Position with the Husky Leadership Initiative

Design & Print Production Student Coordinator

The Husky Leadership Initiative is looking for a student designer to help with our print and digital design needs for the remainder of the winter and spring 2017 quarters.  We have a tight turnaround time, and priority consideration will be given to applicants who submit their materials by Monday, January 23.

Objective:

The design & print production student coordinator will assist with the design, production, and maintenance of print and web media to support the Husky Leadership Initiative (HLI). The print and electronic design responsibilities will support HLI programming including Leadership Firesides, Husky Leadership Conference, Spring Celebration of Service and Leadership, and more. The coordinator will also have the opportunity to collaborate on occasional projects for Undergraduate Academic Affairs at large.

Responsibilities:

The design & print production student coordinator will:

  • Be familiar with UW marketing guidelines
  • Assist with the design, production and distribution of printed and digital program literature

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience creating print-ready documents in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator
  • Experience in designing, editing, and posting on web content
  • Creative and production-oriented with an eye for visual design and typography
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently
  • Good communication skills
  • Experience with social media and communications
  • A GPA of no less than 2.5

 Desired Qualifications:

  • Students with graduation dates of June 2017 or after will receive primary consideration for this position
  • Background in human/computer interaction, informatics, communications, and/or design

 Educational and Career Benefits:

The design and print production student assistant will have the opportunity to work with staff and partners of the Husky Leadership Initiative to develop dynamic and creative media and design to reflect the innovative components of this growing department.

Hours and Compensation:

  • $15.00 per hour
  • 5-10 hours per week

Period of Appointment:

  • Starting January 2017 and finishing in June 2017
