To celebrate its fifth anniversary, Chihuly Garden and Glass will partner with Chihuly Studio to award a $10,000 scholarship to an emerging artist interested in the medium of glass.
The scholarship awardee will have the opportunity to attend Pilchuck Glass School and/or Pratt Fine Arts Center—two leading glass art organizations who will provide the awardee with valuable educational resources and training. Each applicant will be reviewed by a committee of local art professionals. In choosing the awardee, the committee will collectively identify which applicant would most benefit from the scholarship based on the content included in their application. The scholarship funds will be available from June 19, 2017 through September 30, 2018.
APPLICATION
All applications must include a completed application form, three images of current work, curriculum vitae (CV) and a response to the following three prompts:
• Why are you interested in working in the medium of glass?
• If you receive the scholarship, what course of work or study will you fund?
• How will this award further your work and/or long-term goals?
All application content must be submitted concurrently via email or mailed in a digital format.
ELIGIBILITY
Each applicant must:
• Be an emerging visual artist, within the first ten years of their career and interested in working in the medium of glass
• A King County resident
• 18 years or older
• Submit a fully completed application via email or mail to the contact listed below
Please note that current Center Art LLC and Chihuly Studio Inc. employees are not eligible to apply.
DEADLINE
All applications must be postmarked by Friday, June 9, 2017 at 11:59 p.m. PST. There will be no extensions for submitting applications. The awardee will be announced by mid-June.
