Auction Art & Experience Intern – Artist Trust

About the position: The auction is a perfect opportunity to learn more about the area’s contemporary arts scene while supporting individual artists of all disciplines. Work with experienced development staff as well as local artists and arts patrons to create one of the most exciting art happenings in Seattle. Gain first-hand development experience and learn about the many aspects of producing a successful arts fundraiser and celebration.

Some duties:

-Works directly with artists and art experience donors leading up to and through the night of the auction.

-Help procure art experience packages, coordinate details of donations, support in-kind donation procurement, communicate with donating artists, assist with art storage logistics, pack and unpack art, and install it at the auction site.

-Supervise a team of volunteers packaging purchased art for buyers.

-Maintain and update multiple databases and spreadsheets with vital details about artist donors and 125 pieces of art, but also compile necessary materials to assist in catalog printing, website production, and related power point presentations.

Other qualifications: A patient, positive communication style is essential via phone, email, and in person. Experience with spreadsheets, and basic sales and customer service skills are necessary. Accuracy in data entry, excellent editing and language skills, and knowledge or quick learning of basic Photoshop and InDesign are required. Gallery work experience, graphic design, and/or confidence with the terms and language of contemporary visual art are pluses! Some lifting expected. Fun is guaranteed. Stipend: $1,000

Position runs October 15, 2017 through March 15, 2018; break from December 23 through January 1. Position requires 20 hours per week. Possibility of working remotely on occasion. Schedule is flexible and limited evening availability may be necessary. Must be available for the entirety of Auction day, February 24, 2018, along with increased availability Auction week, February 19 through 23, 2018.
