Eighth Generation – Communications Specialist

SEATTLE – Eighth Generation, the first Native-owned company to offer wool blankets, is searching for a strong communicator with a general awareness of the Native experience, history and art to work at Eighth Generation’s headquarters in Seattle’s SODO neighborhood. This position will serve as an initial point of contact for incoming correspondence and work collaboratively with team members to create content for Eighth Generation website and special projects.

Position Basics

Starting wage is $17/hr+ depending on experience

Position Description

Serve as initial point of contact for inquiries via the info@eighthgeneration.com email and Eighth Generation Social Media
Write engaging and informative posts for the Eighth Generation blog
Create announcements for new opportunities, product offerings, sales, and more through Eighth Generation mailing list
Write copy for product descriptions, website pages, announcements, etc.
Collaborate with artists and team members to launch new products
Perform basic website maintenance (updating product pages, website information, etc.)
Maintain wholesale inquiry log
Perform administrative duties as needed (note taking; answering phone; maintaining staff calendar; scheduling meetings, phone calls, interviews, etc.)

Job Requirements

Ability to connect with a broad range of people
Ability to communicate verbally to a high professional standard.
Ability to communicate through the written word to a high professional standard.
Ability to learn a wide variety of online communication platforms
Basic experience in website and blog management
Understanding of Eighth Generation values and business practices
Ability to pass a background check
