Art docent volunteer opportunity

ATTENTION ARTISTS:

Are you passionate about art? Looking to volunteer with children and spread that passion? Please join us at Island Park Elementary School on Mercer Island!

ART DOCENT VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY

At Island Park Elementary, our budget allows for school children Kindergarten through 5th  grade to have a structured art class approximately one class every three weeks. This is not enough! To expand the art curriculum, Volunteer Art Docents visit classrooms each month to give an art appreciation lesson ranging from genres of art to themes and artists. The students discuss the artwork and complete an art project.

HELP ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CHILDREN FIND THE JOY IN ART

This is a very rewarding volunteer opportunity for the right person. These kids are so curious and excited to learn about and explore art. We encourage creativity in this role. Although we have structured lessons available, we welcome feedback and you are always welcome to add your own personal touch when engaging with the students.
