Videography Internship

Job Brief:

Make.Shift is seeking an imaginative and tech savvy intern to produce online video content. The ideal candidate has a strong knowledge of digital filmmaking techniques and effective cinematic storytelling. We are looking for a videographer who embodies our DIY ethos and can bring unique ideas to bring our organization’s story to a wider audience.

This is an unpaid internship and will require approximately 5-10 hours per week. Hours may vary depending on the applicants capacity and the scope of upcoming projects. We are asking for a minimum 3-month commitment with the possibility of an extension.

The videographer intern will report to the Executive Director, collaborating with them and other program directors to produce live streamed events and create compelling short films that capture the vibrancy of Bellingham and Make.Shift’s arts and music communities. Projects may include artist studio tours, KZAX programmer interviews, and promotional videos to promote fundraisers and engage donors.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Executive Director and Program Directors to develop, shoot, and edit a series of short films that capture the mission of each program.

  • Arrange necessary equipment rentals with WWU’s Technology Lab.

  • Film and edit high quality remote and in-person interviews with Make.Shift/KZAX staff, volunteers, tenants, donors, and community members. All in-person interviews will be done with strict compliance to COVID-19 guidelines set forth by the CDC.

  • Film stock footage of Make.Shift facilities to be used for current and future film projects.

  • Post approved final cuts to Make.Shift’s social media accounts.

  • Set up and oversee the filming and streaming of bi-weekly live streamed events.

Requirements:

  • Strong desire to learn along with professional drive

  • Solid understanding of different marketing techniques

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Passion for telling stories through film

  • Passionate about all ages art & music!

  • Having access to your own filming equipment is a plus, but not a requirement.
