Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture seeks Store Coordinator
The Burke Museum was founded in 1885 by the Young Naturalists, a group of curious teenagers inspired by seeing Seattle transform before their eyes. For 130 years, the Museum has built upon this legacy, collecting objects that help us understand how the Northwest has grown and changed.
Store Coordinator
Though the museum was closed through much of the past year due to COVID, store sales remained high during the open months. As visitorship slowly returns to normal, the Burke is seeking a dynamic, retail-minded person to oversee the Burke store in a part-time capacity. The Store Coordinator will coordinate and implement an annual work plan for the store with the support of the Visitor Experience team. This includes maintaining a robust inventory featuring mission-inspired products and custom, branded items and coordinate a new artist consignment program in alignment with the Burke’s Diversity, Equity, Access, Inclusion and Decolonization (DEAI/Decolonization) goals.
This position reports to the Visitor Services Manager and is responsible for product research and procurement, inventory management, consignment program coordination, ensuring progress toward target performance indicators, training Visitor Services hourly staff to promote sales, proactively proposing ideas to maximize program profitability and supporting the Burke’s mission through store initiatives.
