InFerment seeking Ceramics Studio Assistant

InFerment is looking for a studio assistant to help keep up with demand for the studio’s work, which includes tableware and fermentation vessels. The pieces made there are hand thrown, glazed, and fired in a reduction high-fire kiln, by the studio owner, Hadar Iron. The glazes and slips are made from formulas collected and developed over her decades working with clay. Hadar continues to develop more glazes, dedicating herself to research, advanced coursework, and fine tuning recipes. The studio assistant will learn while helping increase production rate and firing frequency, and also allow Hadar more available time to develop sculptural work.

Tasks: preparation of clay, prep work on the wheel, mixing slips, general cleaning, organizing the studio, and assisting with loading and unloading kilns
Compensation: negotiable depending on experience
Time: 6-8 hours per week (can be split over two days)
