Seward Park Clay Studio is looking for a part-time ceramic studio technician.. This is an hourly job paying $25-$30/hr, depending on experience. 100% on-site position, with some flexibility in schedule. We would ideally like someone to work on Mondays and Wednesdays, or Sundays and Mondays. We are hoping to hire someone by mid-September. We will take applications until September 7.
The studio technician will primarily be loading and unloading kilns, helping to mix glazes, and participating with all staff, resident artists, teachers and students to keep the studio organized, safe and clean. The studio tech will work in partnership with the Studio Manager and the Executive Director, and will also relate to students, teachers, and resident artists.
Important qualifications for this position include a strong working familiarity with electric kilns (and perhaps gas kilns), glaze chemicals and mixing procedures, and basic studio equipment. The ideal candidate will be patient and work well with others, have a collaborative problem-solving ethic, and will participate in communicating without judgement. We have a commitment here to learn from our collective mistakes. Respect and care for the students and resident artists is assumed. Also, if the candidate can occasionally help with some office work, that is a plus.
