Digital Designer (Seattle, WA)

Staff Position – Classification: Salary/Exempt

Full-Time (40 hours per week)

Work Schedule does not include school breaks or observed holidays.

This position is eligible to participate in the group health plans and retirement plan.

The Bush School is in search of an individual to join our Communications Team as a Digital Designer. We are seeking a candidate who is able to support the school’s mission of diversity and inclusion and who has a background that demonstrates an understanding and appreciation of intercultural fluency.

The Digital Designer position contributes to an integrated internal and external marketing and communications program that supports the school’s mission and strategic goals. This position reports to the Director of Enrollment Management and Communications and joins a team that also includes the Communications Manager and Admissions and Communications Coordinator who together foster a culture of customer service, developing collaborative constituent partnerships across campus.

The Digital Designer is a creative position focused on enhancing the digital presence of The Bush School through the school’s website, graphic design, and video. We are looking for an experienced and creative individual who is interested in having a big impact as part of a smaller team, working on both the technical and artistic side of digital communications.

While other duties may be assigned, a qualified candidate will be able to manage the key responsibilities and tasks listed below:

Web Specialist
Responsible for maintaining and updating the school’s website, adding new pages and functionality as needed, working with key website contributors from each school department and division, troubleshooting website and user issues;
Works to elevate the school’s online presence by implementing web-based digital marketing;
Serves as the project lead for redesigning the school’s website.

Graphic Design
Serves as the school’s primary graphic designer, working to craft compelling visual storytelling;
Designs and manages the school’s visual communications, graphic design elements, and brand elements for print, digital, and social platforms;
Supports the school’s annual alumni magazine and annual report processes.

Video
Leads the brainstorming, scripting, and production of fun, authentic, smart videos to elevate the school’s brand;
Shoots and edits video segments for use on the website and digital marketing;
Films or coordinates the filming of school events like Convocation, State of the School, Commencement, and other major school events or performances;
Manages and organizes the school’s YouTube and Vimeo channel, other digital media outlets, and branding videos for accessibility and maximum impact.

Together the communications team support four key constituencies:

head of school and board of trustees
development and alumni relations
admissions and enrollment management
internal affairs (administrative group, divisions, departments, families association, and athletics)

The Communications Team is a critical part of The Bush School’s advancement team. The advancement team is made up of the communications, development, and admissions staff. Together they serve to advance the mission of The Bush School through an integrated method of managing relationships and communications among The Bush School’s key constituents.

The Communications Team also partners closely with the director of technology, database manager, and staff of the technology department.

Required Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field (for example: public relations, communications, graphic design, or marketing field)
Professional experience in the execution of web design, graphic design, and/or video
Ability to coordinate and support various teams toward the completion of shared projects, with a focus on exemplary customer service, effective communication, timelines, and common goals
Being knowledgeable in the use of digital media, web asset creation, desktop publishing software, and content management systems (Google Apps, Adobe Creative Suite, Blackbaud/Whipple Hill or comparable website CMS systems, iMovie or other video editing software)
