Clinicians and scientists are introduced briefly to bioethics and humanities in their education and training. HMC forums introduce clinicians, scientists, and students/trainees to the language and methods of bioethics and humanities and to the reflective practices of both disciplines. This allows attendees to better address ethical issues in clinical care, human subjects research, classroom, and lab environments
Overall Objectives:
1) to provide a review of new and ongoing ethical issues in the basic and health sciences
2) to reflect on the human dimensions of medicine and clinical care (story-telling, history, compassion, grief, etc.)
3) to introduce inter-disciplinary perspectives on issues in bioethics and the medical humanities and ask attendees about their changes as a result of the learning.
