Congratulations to Daiki Hiramori who was published in the Journal of Population Problems for his work on measuring sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI) in Japan. His paper demonstrates the need to examine SOGI in non-Western countries and utilizes one of the first population-based surveys to ask SOGI questions in Japan. This article is part of the special issue “Demography of Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity: Building a Foundation for Research in Japan (Part 1).”
