Elle Kyes, Research Scientist with the Center for Global Field Study (CGFS)
and the Washington National Primate Research Center (WaNPRC) led a workshop on lotic ecosystem assessment (18-19 Nov 2017)
at the Mekong School in Chiang Khong, Thailand.
The workshop provided local villagers and high school students from Chiang Khong Wittayakom HS important
theoretical information on the Mekong River ecology as well as hands-on water quality assessment techniques
and bio-indicator sampling methods. This training and outreach program supports the CGFS and WaNPRC’s ongoing
efforts to educate the public on the importance of the human-environment interface. The workshop was conducted in
collaboration with the Mekong School, Chiang Khong, and our partners from Mae Fah Luang University,
Chiang Rai Rajabhat University, and Nakhon Phanom University
