December 10, 2005: How do you teach?
- Session Outline (5")
- Examining how we teach: I (small groups, 45")
What do you do? What do students do? Why do you use these
methods? How are they related to your objectives? What sort of
evidence of learning will they yield?
- Going public: design elements and
rationale (lecture, discussion 15")
- Public Portfolio Review Form and (5")
Review Schedule
- Break, file upload (15")
- Examining how we teach: II (small groups, 30")
Design how you would teach a particular unit (e.g. iteration) -- we
will all design for the same unit.
Consider both what you would do and what students would do. "Try on"
one or more methods that you are unaccustomed to. Consider the same
questions with respect to your designed unit as in the
"Examining how we teach: I" discussion.
- Comparing methods (plenary,
30")
- Methods: mixing, choosing, learning, practicing
- Humans, Design +
Technology talk series at UWT. Next talk on Feb. 9.
- Discussion: PNW Higher Ed T & L Conf
- Looking to the next session: (10")
