EdgeWrite for Wheelchair Joysticks

Power Wheelchair EdgeWrite is a prototype that allows text entry from a power wheelchair joystick. We removed an Everest & Jennings 1706-5020 joystick from a wheelchair, provided power to it via an external cord, and used a National Instruments DAQCard 6024E to read the voltages from the wires. This gives us the (x,y) position of the stick and the state of a joystick switch. A local firm, A.T. Sciences, provided us with the hardware. This version was written prior to the EdgeWrite DLL and therefore does not use it.
