Camera / Image Resolution Specifications

A digital camera is highly recommended. If a camera with film is used, the photographs will have to be scanned to generate electronic images for import into the software. Polaroid and disposable cameras typically do not produce images with sufficient resolution or quality

Digital Camera

The recommended minimum specifications for a digital camera are:

  • 3 Mega Pixel resolution or greater
  • Flash
  • Portrait zoom lens that will capture a close-up facial photograph that fills the frame

Image Resolution

In general, an ideal facial image has at least 800 data points (or dots) (or pixels) across the width of the face when the image is viewed at its original magnification (or 100% zoom).

Image Formats

The software imports the following image formats:

  • jpeg (.jpg)
  • tiff (.tif)
  • bitmap (.bmp)
