Unless otherwise stated, the ballads retrieved
below have been collected directly from modern oral tradition.
The order in which texts have been prepared and uploaded into the
ballad database attempts to address from the outset the diverse interests of
specialists and students of the Pan-Hispanic Ballad Tradition. In order to facilitate
as wide a variety of synchronic and diachronic studies as possible, the user can choose
between two primary forms of access to the texts:
(a) user-defined selection of the criteria to be used to extract the desired ballads from
the database:
or
(b) direct access to one of several subsets of the data pre-classified on the basis
of period, region, branch or language, theme and the availability of music (select from
the list of radio buttons below).
