The aim of World Immunization Week 2017 is to raise awareness of the critical need for full immunization throughout life and for the role immunizations play in reaching sustainable development goals. Vaccines prevent suffering and death from infectious diseases and as health improves, governments and populations are able to prioritize education and economic growth.

This year World Immunization Week is from April 24th-30th. Today’s theme is #VaccinesWork to leave no one behind, which emphasizes the importance of getting vaccines to geographically distant populations, as no child should have to suffer or miss the opportunity for crucial vaccinations due to the location of their home.
