Low-carbon steels Lesson/Tutorial   A type of plain-carbon steel with the smallest amount of carbon present in amounts less than 0.25 %.  These steels are relatively soft and weak but are also very ductile and tough.  Typical applications are automobile body parts and sheets used in buildings, bridges, pipelines, and tin cans.
