Catching Single Biomolecules

Nanopores are tiny openings in a membrane, so small that only a few molecules can fit in at a time. We use a biological nanopore called MspA together with electric forces to capture and scan biological molecules like DNA and proteins.

Using MspA, we can sequence very long reads of DNA. We can also perform single-molecule studies on DNA-processing enzymes with very high spatial and temporal resolution.
