Capillaries is a student-run project at the University of Washington. Since February 2018, their mission has been to provide the UW community (students, staff, and faculty) with the opportunity to reflect on experiences with medicine, healing, illness, and/or grief through prose, poetry, and artwork. Furthermore, Capillaries aims to support students and the community in their healthcare journeys and to promote greater understanding between the sciences and the humanities.
In their Spring 2020 issue, they want to encourage diverse perspectives and ideas –reflections on being a student during this time and on how this pandemic exposes the resilience, strength, and compassion of society but also its flaws (e.g. discrimination/microaggressions, profiteering, inequities in access to healthcare resources and educational resources, etc).
