Call for Applications! Summer Institute in the Arts & Humanities-Apply by March 14

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Dear Undergraduates in the Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, The Undergraduate Research Program is pleased to announce that we’re now accepting applications for the 2014 Summer Institute in the Arts & Humanities (SIAH)! (Application deadline: March 14) This year’s theme is Native Modernities: Histories, Politics, and Arts of Indigeneity In this year’s Summer Institute students will explore rich histories of Native struggles, contemporary (trans)national Indigenous social movements, and repertoires of decolonizing artistic, cultural, and intellectual production. 2014 Teaching Team: – María Elena García, Associate Professor, Comparative History of Ideas and Jackson School of International Studies -José Antonio (Tony) Lucero, Associate Professor, Jackson School of International Studies -Dian Million (Athabascan), Associate Professor, American Indian Studies and Canadian Studies -Annie Dwyer, Doctoral Candidate, English Eligibility: UW (Bothell, Seattle, & Tacoma) undergraduate students in good academic standing who are interested in an intensive experience in scholarly research in the arts and humanities are encouraged to apply. SIAH selects and supports 20 undergraduates to engage in intensive research projects under the guidance of four interdisciplinary instructors. Selected students are named Mary Gates Scholars and receive a Mary Gates Research Scholarship of $4,000 to help defray the costs of participation. Participants enroll in 12 academic credits for this full-time research immersion experience.
