Volunteers for Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation

OneAmerica http://weareoneamerica.org is urgently seeking volunteers for a very exciting project that will take place over the next few months and is funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The Innovations in English-Language Learning Project (IELLP) is a progressive pilot project to research ESL e-learning. Below is a more detailed volunteer position description. Primary Responsibilities: -Help facilitate LEP (Limited English Proficient) students for about 6 hours a week (2 hours/week, 3 days/week) at an assigned site -Help students complete a weekly observation checklist -Help facilitate small group activities between the LEP learners -Enter collected data by researchers at pilot site -Attend technology training sessions hosted by OneAmerica -Take student attendance everyday and enter them into the spreadsheet -Beyond on-site sessions, responsible to encourage and motivate students via email and skype -Report to the Volunteer coordinator Preferred qualifications: -Proficiency in computer related technology tools -A little experience with and knowledge of diverse LEP immigrant population -A little experience in helping people with technology -Good group facilitation and coalition building skills -Able to commit to entire project -Able to start immediately -Willingness to help perform basic observation and evaluation tasks -Must have own transportation and be willing to travel throughout Puget Sound area -Available for meetings and classes held in the evenings, and weekends off-site -Bilingual skills Questions?
