The Husky Leadership Initiative (HLI)

The Husky Leadership Initiative (HLI) is a cross-campus effort that facilitates, deepens and expands student leadership education at the University of Washington.

Below are two ways YOU can get involved with HLI during the 2016-17 academic year to further your leadership development and deepen and expand opportunities campus-wide:

1.       Husky Leadership Initiative Student Board Member

During the 2016-17 year, HLI will be piloting a student board who will serve as ambassadors of the broader HLI work across campus. Members of the board will meet monthly to help shape and participate in the implementation of HLI programs as well as for professional and personal development.  The student voice is imperative in our work—join the effort to cultivate the leadership potential of your fellow Huskies!

2.       “Learning Leadership Theory and Practice” Course Section Leader (BA/GEN ST 391)

The “Learning Leadership Theory and Practice” course is designed to serve as a learning laboratory for first-year students to develop their leadership potential. Course section leaders will co-facilitate leadership lab activities for  a small group of students enrolled in the “Learning Leadership Theory and Practice” large lecture course during Winter 2017.

Through this experience, you will be able to develop your own leadership, facilitation and peer teaching skills as well as build relationships with a large network of peers and UW staff who are committed to supporting student leadership development.
