This screen is used to update a student's directory release, the local or permanent address, or the address usage.
If a student wants to change their directory release from 'yes' to 'no' it can be done either over the phone or via STAR ONLINE. If a student wants to change their directory release from 'no' to 'yes' he either needs to come in person to the Registration Office and show picture ID or make the change via STAR ONLINE.
It is possible to add an address in the local fields and have the system add it in the permanent fields by answering 'Y' in the 'SAME AS LOCAL' field and vice versa.
If you want to delete an address before entering a new address or need to clear the field so the computer will substitute the address already entered as either the local or permanent, have the cursor in the beginning of a line and press the CNTL & DELETE keys at the same time. This will clear any field on any screen. You will need to clear each field in local or permanent before the computer will process a substitution from answering 'Y' in the 'SAME AS LOCAL' field.
Students are asked their address usage the first time they call STAR each quarter. If they make a mistake or change their minds, they can update this information via STAR ONLINE . The only time a student is asked where his grades should be mailed is when he asked to have his grades listed for the current grading period. Once the final grade run has been processed for a quarter, this question is no longer asked and a copy of the quarter's grades are only available through STAR ONLINE.
Punctuation is never used when entering addresses in the SDB. C/O is used for 'in care of' NOT a percent sign. A dash between the house number and an address is NOT used. An apartment number follows the street address according to the directions listed in the USPS Postal Addressing Standards. A standardized address is one that is fully spelled out, abbreviated by using the Postal Service Standard abbreviations or as shown in the current Postal Service ZIP+4 File, and uses the proper format for the address style."
