The details for the second group writing assignment are now available. Important dates: please let me know by Friday February 22 if you want help finding a group to work in. Initial progress reports are due February 29. Final projects are due March 11. Wow! Time sure does fly--this quarter will be over before we know it.

For those of you waiting to see the grading rubric before diving into your consulting project, it is now available. It is important to note that completing group progress report is worth a total of 4/50 points. For those of you who haven't done so, there is still time to earn half those points.

Don't forget the test on Thursday. Be prompt!

Please form working groups and report your initial progress on Consulting Assignment 1 by Friday of THIS week.

Our first hour test is scheduled for Thursday, January 31. It will cover Chapters 1 and 2. Homework on section 2.6, 2.7, and 2.8 are technically not due until that Thursday. Let me strongly suggest that you complete the assignment by Tuesday, January 29. Then I can post solutions to be used to study for the exam.

Contract letter and directions for your first mathematical consulting project (a.k.a. Writing Project 1) are now available. Deadlines--January 25 and February 5.

Please enroll yourself in the classes blackboard site. This way I can record your scores online. The course ID is TQS124A-Quinn. The search function on Blackboard doesn't seem to work well. I found it by selecting "Tacoma Academic Courses", "Interdisciplinary Arts & Science", "126-150" (at the bottom of the page), and scrolling down to the course. The access code  is "math".

Welcome to TQS 124. We will work hard to try and make sense of Calculus this quarter.

Success in Calculus depends on your ability to do the algebra after you set-up the problems. As a first assignment, please complete the four Diagnostic Tests A, B, C, and D on pages xxiv-xxviii of your text. These are self-scored precalculus and trigonometry tests. Record your score on each diagnostic by Tuesday, January 15.
