2009-2010 LARGE ENSEMBLE AUDITIONS
(WOODWIND, BRASS, PERCUSSION)
 
SYMPHONIC BAND (Winter/Spring Quarters: Musen 302a, 502a)
Steven Morrison, conductor

The Symphonic Band is the second auditioned wind group at the University of Washington, performing a repertoire of classic and contemporary wind music. Membership is open to students from all schools and departments of the University of Washington. Rehearsals will take place during Winter and Spring Quarters 2010 and will be held on Monday and Wednesday afternoons from 3:30 to 5:20 PM in the School of Music, room 35. The Symphonic Band performs at least one on-campus concert per quarter with occasional off-campus performances.

Auditions will be held during the last week of Fall Quarter classes on Monday, December 7, 2009 at the following times / locations:

WOODWINDS 3:00 - 6:00, School of Music, Room 213
BRASS & PERCUSSION 5:30 - 8:30, School of Music, Room 35

Times will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis and can be secured in advance (details to follow). Auditions will be "blind" and consist of (1) prepared excerpts (available mid-November), (2) a 2-octave chromatic scale and (3) sight-reading.

CONCERT BAND/CAMPUS BAND (Musen 309/509.)
The UW Concert and Campus Bands meet on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 to 9:00pm. The Concert Band rehearsals are located in Meany Hall, room #268, and the Campus Band rehearses in the School of Music, room #35. These organizations are open without audition. Professor Salzman will be assisted by graduate student conductors. The Concert Band and Campus Band are not just for UW students; faculty, staff and members of the community are also invited. The first rehearsal will be the first Wednesday evening of the quarter from 7-9pm.
