Salem Art Works Residency

 Salem Art Works Residency

Visual artists working in any medium, as well as writers, choreographers, musicians, and performers, are invited to apply for a limited number of positions! With opportunities for artists at all career stages, SAW residencies support exploration of new projects and ideas, and offer a creative environment free from every day pressures and concerns.

Artists receive accommodations, board, and studio, plus a reduced rate on materials and shop usage. Thanks in part by the generous support of the National Endowment for the Arts, our 2017 resident artists will also receive a materials budget toward consumables and shop fees. SAW facilities include blacksmithing, ceramics, cnc machine, foundry, glass blowing and casting, silk screen printing, welding, and wood working equipment and tools.  Artists are responsible for the cost of travel to and from the residency, materials and shop fees in excess of their budget, and personal expenses.  Programs range from 2 weeks to 5 months.
