Quality Test Specialist (Color Lab) – Boeing

Boeing Commercial Airplanes program support is seeking a qualified Quality Test Specialist to support Boeing color development in the Color Lab in Auburn, Washington.

The job will be fast-paced and candidate should have prior experience in color theory and development.

The ideal candidate will bring new ideas and introduce alternative technology to the group.

In this role you will work as a member of a team to carry out processes such as Quality Control tests, sample preparation, etc within the analytical function and to provide general laboratory support to the factory and EDC. The job involves testing paint for color and other properties. Someone who is especially gifted might eventually (measured in years) become involved with designing paint colors.

Techniques or activities vary depending on the technology or specialist area, but may include:

• Apply in-depth knowledge of color theory and color management tools to develop and evaluate paint colors.
• Prepare and test specimens (primer, topcoat, sealants, other nonmetallic products); perform coupon preparation and evaluation including color match; and perform chemical characterization tests in a fast paced production support quality laboratory.
• Candidate should have prior experience spraying with manual HVLP spray guns.
• Actively engage with suppliers to determine appropriate work priority.
• Follow documented procedures, develop or improve test techniques, create test specimens, setup and operate specialized test equipment as needed to perform tests.
• Apply knowledge of materials science, chemistry, instrumentation, and specifications to ensure control of manufacturing processes and adequacy of materials.
