ART STUDIO COORDINATOR

We create custom art solutions with clients like W-Hotels, Ethan Allen, Marriott, and Z Gallerie across the country every day. Job Brief:

The Studio Coordinator will assist Art Director in managing the workflow and output of a busy 2D, 3D, and Digital studio. Support art director and artists in creation of on-brand content and commissions in all mediums, on time and on budget. Assist Art Director in determining and managing budgets and schedules. Identify and procure outside resources and materials. Gather and track information pertaining to the studio, artists and artwork.

Responsibilities:

  • With direction from the Art Director, you will create visual presentations and mock ups of artwork and manufacturing proposals. This includes sourcing images from internal collections and external sources, creating digital mockups and curating visual materials to demonstrate artwork concepts to be executed by in-house or out of house artists and fabricators.
  • Perform office work such as email, phone, online presentations, screen-share and in person meetings.
  • Ensure materials and supplies are ordered and delivered so that manufacturing of the project functions smoothly.
  • Play a primary role in vendor selection, placing orders with vendors.
  • Communicating with vendors, and colleagues to identifying the approach, deliverables, schedule and tools to complete projects to client satisfaction on deadline and on budget.
  • Working on multiple projects at various phases concurrently with time-sensitive deadlines. Multi-tasking and the ability to change gears as priorities shift is a must.
  • Interpreting architectural plans and manufacturing specifications. Reading and taking accurate measurements and data from provided materials. Understanding and applying complex and abstract concepts to tangible design possibilities.
  • Understanding and proposing materials and options that will be successful within the client’s design parameters, budget and lead time.
  • Entering manufacturing specifications into proprietary order system, calculating costs and profit margins to determine pricing, providing accurate documents and appropriate explanations of pricing to clients.
  • Coordinating logistics including manufacturing through internal and external factories / studios, transportation and installation of completed artwork.
  • Managing vendor / artist / third party relationships including timely and accurate communication of quote requests as well as setting and enforcing manufacturing / delivery expectations to meet client needs.
  • Entering and maintaining accurate vendor and artist contact information in CRM database.
  • Collect data tracking productivity and efficiency of studios
  • Running errands to purchase supplies needed for studio and custom projects
  • Assist Art Director in the hiring and training of new artists.
  • Assist with meeting technical support and meeting notes

Education:

  • BA or higher in a related area of study, or a combination of applicable work experience and education.

Experience:

  • Experience in administrative work for creative projects, art production, project management or related field

Requirements:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of materials and processes involved in 2D, 3D and digital mediums.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings is a plus
  • Ability to proactively anticipate, recognize and resolve any studio specific issues that may arise.
  • Careful adherence to health and safety to one self and others in every environment (within studio, on an off-site location, etc.)

Job Brief:
The successful candidate is a forward thinking, innovative fine artist who lives and breathes 2D and 3D art and design. Studio artists will be working with a diverse in-house team of creatives whose primary role is creating and concepting custom 2D, 3D artwork and wall décor for the interior design industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Well versed and well trained in a variety of 2D and 3D art disciplines, techniques, fabrication, and while contributing creative solutions within both the 2D and 3D realm
  • Creating mockups by communicating ideas through sketching, physical prototypes, and email correspondence
  • Meeting and managing multiple deadlines within one’s personal work queue
  • Accurate and prompt time tracking for multiple, ongoing projects
  • Working in a variety of locations while being aware and adhering to health and safety procedures for one self and others
  • Research: visiting locations, interviewing people and asking viable questions pertinent to project, using online resources for new techniques
  • Sourcing materials with written briefs for client approval
  • Running errands to purchase supplies needed for studio and custom projects
  • Creating or developing a piece of work in response to a brief, work order, or commission from mockup to completed product.
  • Providing prompt and creative feedback to requests for concept and design
  • Attending meetings with Sales team (when applicable) to discuss new custom commission projects and status of outstanding projects
  • Create custom briefs for the Sales team for both new content and conception opportunities

Education:

  • BA or higher in a related area of study

Experience:

  • 2 years working experience in related field

Requirements:

  • Background in 2D or 3D fine art (painting, illustration, collage, wood working, steel fabrication)
  • Art background with highly developed sense of design, composition, and color
  • Ability to propose and create unique artwork and designs in a variety of mediums
  • Creative problem solving and initiative to improve and develop existing processes and concepts
  • Strong communication skills including excellent verbal and written skills
  • Skilled in reading, understanding and drawing various specifications and architectural drawings
  • Dedication to working and promoting a “Safety First” work environment for all
  • Detail oriented and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in an active studio space
  • Ability to multi-task, take direction, and work in a deadline-driven environment
  • Demonstrates a high level of professionalism and strong work ethic
