Facebook’s AR/VR team is shaping the future of consumer electronics in the emerging Augmented and Virtual Reality industries and the game-changing Portal products. As an Industrial Design Intern in the AR/VR team, you will be a part of the team tasked with bringing the next generation hardware and experiences to life. You bring problem solving and hands-on design skills to assist the team in creating delightful, holistically considered products. You are well-versed in the design process, have a solid foundation of technical skills, and are comfortable working in a fast-paced collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the design of category-defining products, helping Oculus/Portal/Facebook change the world through design.
- Help create the visual and physical language of our brand through the design of our hardware.
- Utilize user-centric thinking and aesthetic sensibility to align our brand to customer needs.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams on complex technical programs in a fast-paced environment.
- Conceive elegant, effective ways to address ergonomic and mechanical challenges.
- Contribute concepts and problem solving across multiple projects.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
- Interest in designing consumer electronics or wearable tech products.
- Experience exploring and refining ideas through sketching and hands-on physical prototyping.
- Fluent in a 3D CAD modeling program (Rhino, Alias, SolidWorks, ProE, or NX).
- Experience with 3D rendering software for visual communication (Keyshot, VRay, or Modo).
- Experience solving problems in a collaborative team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Intent to return to degree-program after the completion of the internship/co-op.
- Currently has, or is in process of, obtaining a Bachelors or Masters degree in Industrial Design or a related field.
