Glowforge, a Seattle-based tech startup, is looking for a Materials Testing Coordinator to help propose and develop print settings for new and existing materials used with our printer. If you’re not familiar with Glowforge, we make the iconic 3D laser printer that broke crowdfunding records in 2015 and have been on an incredible growth streak ever since.
What you’ll be doing:
● (70%) Proposing print settings for new and existing materials
○ Test new materials (e.g. paper, cardstock, cardboard, new plywoods) to determine the best default print settings (cuts, scores, and engraves)
○ Run calibration prints on a Glowforge Pro to determine baseline settings
○ Validate those settings across a fleet of machines in the Glowforge Seattle office
○ Log settings and results in a spreadsheet
○ Take pictures of proposed settings
○ Run calibration prints and analyze material damage to set material damage warning thresholds
● (15%) Developing new settings for existing materials
● (15%) Testing out new lines of material
Qualifications:
● Ability to follow directions and ask questions when things are unclear
● Enjoys interacting with others to achieve ambitious and positive results
● Exceptional organization time-keeping skills / time management
● Access to a camera (a phone is fine)
Nice to haves:
● Experience working with a laser cutter/engraver
● Experience working with a Glowforge
● Experience with design software, preferably Adobe Illustrator
