Seattle-based general contractor (Model Remodel) with a focus on remodeling, looking for an experienced Lead Permit Specialist – Design Assistant. This person is a motivated, honest, and reliable individual who will bring professionalism and their work experience to our company.
We are seeking a Lead Permit Specialist – Design Assistant with two year’s work, school or equivalent experience in residential design doing feasibility studies, permitting, and drafting layouts.
Job Description:
The role of Lead Permit Specialist – Design Assistant at Model Remodel is to assist the design and sales team with feasibility studies, obtaining necessary construction permits in the client’s local jurisdiction, perform on site measurements, and draw existing floor plans. Throughout each project, this individual will answer code and permit questions as required and ensure a smooth transition from the permitting phase to the build phase.
Job Requirements:
- Must always exhibit professional conduct and mutual respect to all people.
- Knowledge and understanding of residential construction process and municipal building
standards and policies, and current City & State Building Codes - Utilize design software to draft layouts, elevations, and construction details.
- Experience with CAD and Microsoft Applications. Chief Architect experience is a plus.
- Prepare plan sets for STFI & Full Review Permits and submit applications, making corrections as
needed. - Perform on-site measuring and site inspections of existing properties and create “as-built” plans.
- Reliable transportation required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
- Frequent standing and sitting.
- Frequent lifting and carrying up to 10 pounds.
- Occasional lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds.
- Must be able to work at computer or desk area for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to use a computer and see color.
- Ability to safely drive to different locations within King County.
