Wa Na Wari seeks Abundance and Development Coordinator
Wa Na Wari creates space for Black ownership, possibility, and belonging through art, historic preservation, and connection. Sited in a 5th-generation Black-owned home, in Seattle’s Central District, Wa Na Wari is an immersive community art project that reclaims Black cultural space and makes a statement about the importance of Black land ownership in gentrified communities.
Wa Na Wari Seattle LLC is looking for an Abundance and Development Coordinator
Purpose of Position:
The Abundance and Development Coordinator will work with Wa Na Wari’s executive leadership cohort on grant writing, fundraising, and growing our donor base. Wa Na Wari has grown rapidly in the last three years and is at a critical point as we expand our programs and our physical footprint through the acquisition of cultural sites. Wa Na Wari takes a decolonized and relationship-based approach to fundraising and seeks an Abundance and Development Coordinator who is aligned with this approach.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Grant Writing
Cultivate and deepen new and existing donor relationships
Maintain donor correspondence (annual review letters, thank you letters, etc)
Manage grant reports, invoicing, contracts
Become familiar with, and be able to write/talk about, Wa Na Wari’s programs, vision, and mission
Attend 4-5 meetings per month
Find and develop sponsorship opportunities
Attend grant workshops for the organization and report to the team
Use Little Green Light to pull reports and manage donor data
Qualifications:
Fundraising experience with organizations that have budgets of one million dollars or more
Excellent writing skills
Good communication skills
Strong organizational skills
Experience working with a lens for cultural competency
A base understanding of systemic and structural racism and how that affects the lives of Black and Brown people
Proficient in MS Word, Excel and Google Suite
Experience using Little Green Light or other donor database applications
Ideally lives in the Greater Seattle area. We will consider highly-qualified applicants who live in the Northwest but can periodically travel to the Seattle area.
Accountability:
The Abundance and Development Coordinator is directly accountable to the executive cohort. This position will undergo a bi-annual performance appraisal by the executive cohort members.
Compensation:
This a contract position for the calendar year of 2022 with the possibility of becoming a full time permanent position in 2023.
$75,000 with opportunity for bonuses at fundraising goals.
