AIM seeking Teaching Artists and Creative Arts Therapists

Position Summary:

AIM is seeking to hire Teaching Artists and Creative Arts Therapists in dance, music, visual arts, theater, and other arts disciplines. These are part-time positions reporting directly to the Program Director.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate onsite and offsite adaptive arts classes, camps, or experiences that are accessible to individuals with varying disabilities, backgrounds, and ages, in collaboration with the Teacher Coordinator and Program Director.
  • Align all classes and sessions with AIM’s approach, which is neuro-affirmative and centers the input of Neurodivergent and Disabled individuals and their allies.
  • Work collaboratively with AIM staff, parents/caregivers, and community partners to ensure accessible, safe and positive program experiences for all participants.
  • Nurture a positive and engaging learning environment that encourages creativity, self-expression, and autonomy.
  • Evaluate participant feedback and engagement, adjusting lesson plans and approaches to meet the evolving needs of the community.
  • Participate in professional development meetings with AIM staff.
  • Attend regular consultation meetings with the Teacher Coordinator and Program Director.
  • Represent AIM at outreach and tabling events within the broader community.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in teaching or facilitating arts-based classes, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 1 year of experience working with Neurodivergent and/or Disabled communities, or equivalent experience.
  • Creative Arts Therapists must provide proof of certification or credentials.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to create an inclusive, supportive, and engaging learning environment for participants of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds.
  • Commitment to understanding and addressing how racism, ableism, and other systems of oppression impact this work, with a willingness to actively work toward equity and inclusion.

Compensation: $50 per hour for onsite classes or sessions, $65 per hour for offsite classes or sessions, $25 per hour for meetings and consultations. Planning time is built into the hourly rate.
