Kristen T Ramirez Fellowship
for Latine Printmakers
This fellowship, specifically for Latine printmakers, exists to honor Kristen T Ramirez, who passed in 2021. As an artist, teacher, arts administrator, and community activist, Kristen’s inspiration and impact is immeasurable. In Kristen’s words, “I was really interested in printmaking as a democratic medium, insofar as you are not making one thing but you are making multiple things… getting a message out in the streets to the people.”
“Persistence means making work for the sake of work because it feeds you in some deeper way. Time and money are always the constant and evasive needs. Funding helps pay for many things.”
This award provides a stipend of $3,000 to produce new work or to support a printmaking project in progress. This fellowship is open to Latine artists residing in the Pacific Northwest. Current members of the Seattle Print Arts Board are not eligible to apply.
The selected artist will be determined based on the artistic intent (and project, if applicable) and the images of work presented in the application, juried by a panel of arts professionals. The first $1,500 will be awarded when the artist is selected. The selected artist, or artist team, is required to present a talk about their work, at our Annual Meeting, to the Seattle Print Arts membership. If travel to the annual meeting in Seattle is not possible, the artist must provide a recorded video presentation prior to the event. The remaining $1,500 will be awarded after the artist’s presentation within the year (date TBD). In addition to the monetary award, the chosen artist will receive a one-year Seattle Print Arts membership.
Deadline July 5, 2026!
