Getting to UW

Ground Transportation

Bus/Light Rail

The UW campus is well-served by Seattle Metro Transit buses and light rail. The UW Husky Stadium light rail station provides direct service to and from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport in about 50 minutes. Please note that the Husky Station stop is a 10-minute (0.5 mile) walk from central campus, but around a mile away from campus hotels (some of which may offer a shuttle or pickup service from the station).

Download the Transit GO Ticket App to view rates and to skip the line. If you purchase your ticket at the station, buying a Day Pass will save you time on the return trip and is the same price as two one- way tickets. Trains come every six minutes during peak hours.

Taxi/Car Share

Seattle is served by taxis (for instance, Yellow Cab, if you're coming from the airport) as well as both Lyft and Uber. Car sharing services such as Car2Go, ReachNow, and ZipCar have a large presence around campus and Puget Sound. The app OneBusAway can help if using public transit.

Shuttles

The free UW Health Sciences shuttle makes WEEKDAY ONLY laps around the University District, including a pickup at UW Tower across the street from the Marriott Residence Inn (also accessible to Graduate Seattle guests about a block to the east), as well as a stop near the Watertown Hotel on Roosevelt Avenue.

Rental Car

Take Interstate 5, but do not get on the express lanes. Exit at NE 45th Street, about 4 miles north of downtown Seattle and just north of the Ship Canal bridge. Turn east on NE 45th . After you cross 15th Ave, the university will be on your right. More extensive directions and driving instructions for regional driving to the UW can be found HERE.

Parking

Some hotels recommended by the organizers have parking available for an additional fee. It is best to leave your car at the hotel parking and walk to the campus. The walk will take no more than 15 minutes but there are some hills on the way. There are automobile entrances to campus on the north side (NE 45th Street at 17th Ave), west side (15th Ave NE at 40th Street), and east side (25th Ave NE just south of the 45th Street viaduct). On weekdays and Saturday mornings, the kiosks at all campus entrances will be open, and you can get an all-day visitor parking permit. On Saturday afternoons and Sunday mornings, the kiosks are closed and parking is free.

If parking on campus, the Central Plaza Garage (under Red Square) or the Padelford Garage is closest to conference events.

There is more detailed parking information supplied by the University of Washington.
