Brakenridge, MD. The presentation covers the evolution of the “Stop the Bleed” program, its role in trauma ethics, and lessons from military to local programming. Objectives include limitations to widespread adoption and understanding when Stop the Bleed principles are most useful.

This presentation will discuss the evolution of the "Stop the Bleed" program including its role in the ethics of trauma mass casualty events and how lessons learned in war have hardened the home front for local programming.

OBJECTIVES:

  1. Limitations to wide spread adoption of Stop the Bleed training and equipment.
  2. Understanding the times and places when Stop the Bleed principles can be most useful.

 

SPEAKER BIOS:

Dr. Quinton Hatch is a distinguished Army surgeon and the General Surgery Program Director at Madigan Army Medical Center.

Dr. Scott Brakenridge is an Associate Professor of Surgery in the Division of Trauma, Burn & Critical Care Surgery at the University of Washington and an active Trauma/General Surgeon and Surgical Intensivist at Harborview Medical Center.
