Kristen Childress, DNP, ARNP, AGNP-C, FNP-BC, CWCN-AP, FAANP

Dr. Childress is a Teaching Professor at the University of Washington in the School of Nursing and a Co-Director for the Palliative Care Training Center. She is a three-time UW graduate and is board-certified as both a Family Nurse Practitioner and an Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner, working predominately in geriatrics for more than 20 years. In 2025 she was inducted as a Fellow of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.

Dr. Childress has taught in the UW Family Nurse Practitioner program since 2014, and current teaching activities include courses in the Doctor of Nursing Practice program and interprofessional electives. Her areas of clinical and scholarly interest include the care of older adults and factors affecting their access to values-aligned care. She is passionate about working with interprofessional learners to improve care outcomes through collaboration, communication, and by helping them find their role as leaders for positive change.
