These faculty are not affiliated with Bioethics and Humanities but have generously worked with the department as guest speakers, presenters, and instructors for department events. 


Laura A. Katers PA-C lives in Seattle, WA and holds dual appointments in addiction medicine and pain management at the University of Washington Medical Center.


Kayhan Parsi, JD, PhD, is a tenured Professor of Bioethics & Health Policy at the Neiswanger Institute for Bioethics, Loyola University Chicago, having joined the faculty in January, 2002.

Arthur R. Derse, MD, JD is Director of the Center for Bioethics and Medical Humanities and Professor of Bioethics and Emergency Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Dr.


Katie Porter, JD, MPH is a Research Scientist at the Treuman Katz Center for Pediatric Bioethics and Palliative Care at Seattle Children’s Research Institute (SCRI).


Dr. Jennifer Kett is a physician and bioethicist who is board-certified in Pediatrics, Neonatology, and Hospice and Palliative Medicine.


Dr. Lindsay Semler is the Executive Director of Clinical Ethics at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and a Lecturer at Harvard Medical School.


Crystal Brown, M.D., M.A., is a board certified physician and ethics consultant at Harborview and a UW instructor of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine. Dr.
