Faculty Announcements

The Computational Finance & Risk Management team wishes to share the news of some faculty and staff changes occurring for the 2016-2017 academic year.

In June, Program Director Doug Martin and Executive Director Bill Anderson will be transitioning into retirement from the University of Washington.  Both have achieved remarkable success in establishing our program and have decided that the time has come to hand it off for the next steps in CFRM’s ongoing development.  Additionally, Professors Guy Yollin and Steve Golbeck have completed their appointed terms as UW faculty and will be returning to the private sector.  While we are excited for their future plans, each has contributed greatly the success of our program and will be deeply missed at CFRM.

Taking over for them will be new professors Bin Zou (Ph.D. 2014, University of Alberta), Kerem Ugurlu (Ph.D. 2016, University of Southern California), and Tim Leung (Ph.D. 2008, Princeton University).  Professor Leung joins us from the #2 QuantNet ranked Financial Engineering program at Columbia University. He will assume the overall leadership of CFRM.  He has been instrumental in the creation and management of similar programs at both Johns Hopkins University and Columbia. His emphasis on practical academics, expanding research, and first-rate career placement services fits exceptionally well with our mission.  Drs. Zou and Ugurlu bring a great deal of expertise and experience in the fields of mathematical finance, actuarial science, and software development.  It is our distinct pleasure to welcome these tremendous new instructors to the CFRM program.
