Admissions Events for 2019 Computational Finance and Risk Management Programs

Over the last few weeks, Computational Finance and Risk Management (CFRM) faculty and staff has been involved in several on- and off-campus admissions outreach events.

Sarah Riley, CFRM Graduate Program Advisor, attended the annual University of Washington Graduate and Professional Advisor Association’s Graduate School Fair on October 16, 2018. UW students, alumni, and local community members were able to meet with representatives from more than 100 graduate programs. On October 17, 2018, Riley represented CFRM at a UW Continuum College Open House showcasing many of the University’s online, part-time, and evening programs.

“It’s really exciting to be a part of the graduate admissions process,” says Riley. “The energy at these grad fairs is contagious and it’s a good way for undergraduates and working professionals to connect with a variety of programs to find the best fit.”

CFRM program staff hosted recent information sessions at Puget Sound Plaza in downtown Seattle, and on the UW campus in Lewis Hall, the home of the Applied Mathematics Department. CFRM Director, Associate Professor Tim Leung, provided information and insight on CFRM program offerings, application process, and provided a forum for lively Q&A. The next scheduled info sessions are virtual webinars starting November 15, 2018.

“These info sessions are great opportunities to introduce our CFRM program to the community,” said Leung. “They also let us understand the academic interests and career ambitions of our prospective students, ultimately helping us achieve a diverse student body – on campus and online.”

The application deadline for the 2019 campus CFRM MS program is January 15, 2019, and the deadline for the online CFRM MS program is May 1, 2019. The admissions committee will begin to convey campus admissions decisions in March, and online admissions decisions by June.
